Tips for 2026 GCE O-Level Mathematics Paper 2 (4052/02)

 Dear Visitors to this blog,

Below are the suggestions compiled based on analysis of questions from GCE O-Level Mathematics (4052/01) Paper 1 that was tested on Wednesday, 21 Oct 2026.

You may want to focus on the areas/topics listed in the table below for your preparation for Paper 2.

S/No

Topic

Remarks

1

Plot and draw graph

Gradient

·     Finding gradient and state its unit and what gradient represents

·     Find equation/gradient/y-intercept of tangent given tangent passes through a particular point

·     Find point on graph with a particular gradient

·     Find the equation/y-intercept of tangent with a particular gradient

·     Given equation of tangent is y = Ax + B, find the value of B given the value of A or find the possible values of A given the value of B

Adding a straight line

·     Solving equation/inequality using straight line added to curve

·     Finding equation whose solutions are x-coordinates of points of intersection between a line added to the main curve

2

Matrices

·     The usual stuff but be prepared to be asked to obtain amount using purely matrix multiplications

3

Trigonometry

·     Sine and cosine rule

·    Area of triangle = 0.5ab sin C

·     Angle of elevation/depression

·     Largest angle of elevation (related to shortest distance) or even range of angles of elevation

·     Can also be 3-D object like a box/prism

4

Mensuration

·     Circular measure that involves radian measure (arc length, area of sector/segment)

·     Conversion of units: radians to degrees and vice-versa, cm2 to m2 and vice-versa, cm3 to m3 and vice-versa, m3 to litres

·     Volume and surface area of composite solid that makes up of Pyramid/Sphere/Hemisphere/Cylinder

5

Statistics

Analysis and interpretation of

·     Cumulative frequency curve (most likely if any statistics question)

·     Stem & Leaf (more likely)

·     Dot diagram (less likely)

·     Line graph (more for misleading feature)

·     Pie chart (find angle)

Misinterpretation of data

·     Explain why a statistical diagram leads to misinterpretation of data

6

Algebra

·     Mixture

·     Likely to be complete square, making subject of a formula

·     Solving quadratic equation using formula (can be a word problem or a question on its on)

7

Vectors

·     Magnitude of vector

·     Parallel vectors (scalar multiple)

·     Determine whether 3 points are collinear using vectors

·     Ratios of areas of triangles/quadrilateral

7

Real world context problem

·     Can be from any topic

8

Others

·     Number pattern

·     Angle properties of polygons

·     Financial transactions: Simple/Compound interest, hire purchase, taxation, profit/loss/discount, etc.

All the best to you.

Warmest Regards,

Mr Ng Song Seng
