2007 GCE 'O' Level Maths Paper 2
Dear 2007 GCE 'O' Level pupils,
My apology. I did not manage to take a look at the Maths paper today. However, speaking to some of your schoolmates, I have gained some insight into paper 1. So, here come the advice.
Please focus your attention to the following topics: (Note: this is just a guide to help you to be more focussed in your revision. It is in no way a guarantee match of tomorrow's paper)
To help you further, I will be using the following colour codes: blue - very likely topic, green - maybe only, red - no need to study le
VERY LIKELY TOPICS
1. TRIGONOMETRY - die die MUST know (high weightage)!!
Sine Rule, Cosine Rule, Bearings, Angle of Elevation and Depression
2. Drawing of GRAPHS - surely at least one question. (BUT no need to study distance-time and speed-time graphs because it has been tested in paper 1)
3. STATISTIC question - either stem & leaf, histogram, cumulative frequency or combination of the above. Frequency polygon.
4. ALGEBRA - about two questions: solving quadratic equation using formula, factorisation (tested in paper one le), evaluation, algebraic fraction, making subject, etc.
5. MENSURATION- finding surface area and volume, anything shape also possible since paper 1 only have one question on arc length. Very likely to be volume question.
6. Number pattern - since number pattern question in paper 1 is of a very low weightage.
7. Arithmetic question such as simple and compound interest, some other financial transaction questions.
8. Vectors
9. Circle properties
10. Congruency, please learn how to prove. Similarity no need le
11. Probability
Maybe will appear
1. simultaneous equations
2. coordinate geometry
3. angle properties of polygons/parallel lines
No need to study le
1. transformation
2. locus
3. variation
4. standard form
5. inequalities
6. indices
7. arc length, area of sector
Good luck and study hard.
